Love Thai food and this place doesn't disappoint. The Sunday unlimited menu for £14.95 is definitely worth trying, and as it's all prepared fresh, they can leave out any ingredients containing gluten and dairy for me, and it still tastes really good.

We had our Christmas party at Phanthong, and it was absolutely superb. The food was delicious, and the environment was relaxing and well maintained. Really friendly staff too - cannot fault the place! Very much recommended.

Authentic Thai food served by warm and friendly people. What more could you want? What's that? "Free Thai crackers" I hear you say... they do those too!! Blimey. Mainly because I couldn't decide, I went for the mixed platter to start, which was good. The rolls and dips were tasty, some items were a little greasy but the prawn toast was great. The satay sauce was the highlight. I also tried a little of the cauliflower and chicken coconut soup, which was amazingly light but perhaps a bit soapy...? For main I had the masaman. Lots of tender beef, amazingly rich and fragrant nutty, sweet sauce and boiled rice. Incredible. I couldn't finish it as it got a bit sickly but boy, it was good. And meant I didn't need pudding. The Pad Thai was amazingly fresh with plenty of flavour, but didn't live up to (my impossibly high) expectations. Even on weeknights it seems to get quite busy so best to book.

A great Thai restaurant. I've been here twice, once for dinner and once at lunch. Both times the food and service were fantastic. The lunch menu is great value, it is a little easy to overspend on the dinner. Very recommended for both couples and larger groups.

Phanthong is an excellent Thai restaurant disguised as an old pub. However once you are inside you feel like you are in a posh restaurant as the décor is lovely. We were taken to our table as soon as we entered and shown the massive menu. I chose the prawn tempura which tasted good and my friends enjoyed their first courses too with the chicken satay coming out as overall fav. However the vegetarian tasting plate looked fantastic with sweetcorn fritters, mushroom satay, spring rolls and Thai salad. The service was extremely efficient, we were a big group but everything was done so smoothly. We were very impressed by the fact that they didn't have to ask us what we had ordered and placed the correct dish in front of us. For main I ordered the king prawn pad thai which is one of the nicest I have had in along time and was massive so much so I had no room for a dessert. If you like Thai food and fancy a trip out to the burbs then Phanthong could be just what you are looking for.

As far as Thai food goes you will need to go a long way to better this little gem. I've eaten here about 5 or 6 times now and each time have been very impressed with both the food and the service. My latest visit was a take out rather than dining in the restaurant itself. However, the menu and the food for take out is exactly the same both in terms of quality and content. There were 3 of us, so we opted to share some mixed starters, the Spring Rolls (Pa Pia Tod), beautifully flavoured minced chicken with crumbly pastry, simple but well executed. The spare ribs (Kra Dook Moo), delicately spiced with ginger and pepper but with a lovely sweetness. The meat was plentiful, just fell off the bone and was not too sticky. The pork skewers were succulent and spicy served with sweet chilly sauce. For main I opted for the beef salad (Nam Tok), lovely tenderloin of beef cooked to perfection served with a salad containing chilli, coriander, spring onion and mint, which really elevated the dish. My dining guests both had the beef curry (Geang Massaman), a rich and creamy curry which had the perfect harmony of heat, sweetness and creaminess from the coconut milk. The beef was so tender, satisfyingly melting in the mouth. It also has little baby potatoes and shallots through the sauce which worked really well. I would highly recommend this to locals and well worth making a trip for anyone outwith Altrincham. Food 5/5 absolutely delicious, never fails to deliver. Drink 4/5 very good selection of bottled beer, wines and spirits Service 5/5 attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. What more can you ask? Decor 4/5 a sharp contrast from the outside. Tasteful Thai palace. Value 4/5 they do a great midweek discount. For take out you get a free beer with every £20 spent

Love my Thai food but have only tried the Thai restaurants in town. Heard a few good things so decided to tram it out to the burbs. It didn't disappoint. As we went midweek we could take them up on their midweek specials - 2 courses £14.95 3 for £17.95. Not restricted to just a few courses we had the whole of the a la carte menu to choose from. Food was lovely, fresh and good sized portions ( see pics) one friend went for the Thai style fish which was a whole fish served on a platter with separate veg - waitress assisted with removing it from the bone. Had a really lovely evening here - don't be put off by the outside whilst not bad it was clearly an old pub in its former life but a lovely restaurant with nice staff and good food now reside inside. Big car park also resides behind for the drivers amongst you although it easily reachable by tram.

We headed here with some friends for lunch after a lovely post Christmas walk at Dunham. This was my second visit to this restaurant, it's in the site of the old Grapes pub in central Altrincham. Both times we have been impressed by the food and the service. Yesterday they had a great lunch time offer, £10.95 for 2 courses. I had the tempura veg starter then tofu massuman curry with rice. The others had the chicken satay and ribs to start then red thai curry, pad thai and a cashew nut curry. All were declared lovely and generous portions. The interior is really nice and the staff make you feel very welcome. One of the few decent restaurants in Alti in my opinion. Well worth a try.
